This is pretty good! An interesting world and dramatic characters, and the sizeable level design with an effort to mix up play styles is impressive!

Thank you so much!

So I'm just at the beginning of chapter 1 right now but something I immediately noticed was the one lost soul turning into the upper part of a wardrobe after being killed. I guess that is not supposed to happen right?

Oh my god. Good catch. YES. That's not supposed to happen. That was an event oversight due to me switching to the wrong tileset. Thank you! Will double-check all enemies before the next chapter update finishes.

Hey there, I noticed two more things. You're actually able to buy the inferno spell in the shop right before you get the fire spell. Resulting in the possibility to hurt Narcissa when you're supposed to always miss her during your execution. In my case she also got overheated and wasn't able to down the shopkeeper due to the state.

For the second point I don't know if it is on purpose, but by pressing the w button during a battle you're able to skip your action completely, literally doing nothing.

The inferno spell being purchasable from the get-go was intentional, but noted on the game-breaking side effect. Narcissa in that fight was supposed to have plot armor, even against magic, but I missed the "overheat" status. Will patch out soon. Thank you so much!

Also, the "W" button is the same as the "skip button" (aka RB on a controller) used to skip dialogue, and doubles as a skip turn for the battles. Will make it clearer in the keyboard controls tutorial.

So, I just finished the game. There is only one more thing that was catching my eye. During the conversation between Red Reaper and Pale Death in the storage room - for female protagnist - the face of Pale Death changed from female to the gender neutral version. I don't remind the exact sentence anymore, but I think it was somewhere mid conversation or near to the end for a sentence. That's all.

Besides that it's a really nice game and I can tell that I like it. I'm looking forward to the next chapters. <:

Blagh, this is what I get for not using proper facesets. Thanks! Will double check all the face graphics in that part.  Also, thank you for checking out the game! :D

Whew, finished the game without going evil... (0.2.17 Version) Can't wait for the new chapters to be out! ;)

Thank you so much!

I haven't finished this game yet it but I'm already enjoying it, especially when I had to solve that murder mystery. I like the "no good deed goes unpunished. no bad deed goes unrewarded" thing, that was a nice change of pace. I like the battle music alot, it has that feeling of despair and... something else. I don't know what.

That aside I got jumpscared a few times by the lost souls charging at me so fast.... which I think is still going to happen.

Thank you for picking up the game! Hope you enjoy the rest. Have fun! :)

I definitely will. By the way, is the lvl max at 3 or what? Its been a while and they don't seem to be lvling up. Is there some criteria that needs to be filled first?

Nah, you don't level up. No grinding except for money. :) You get stat boosts with trinkets like Focus Ring but even that has trade-offs. The protagonist though goes from level 1 to level 3 instantly but only if you've become evil. No bad deed goes unrewarded after all. :P

I see, should be easy only managing trinkets... is what I'd like to say were it not for a certain alchemist's(I forgot his name) prices.

Well... I did got her to become evil, not sure what to think about that smile though.

Is there a hotkey for stealth I've yet to locate or is agro line of sight and my lag just isn't letting me see them charge in?

(1 edit) (+1)

No, there's no hotkey for stealth. Special key "Q" is used for special items later on in the game. Line of sight is about 6 tiles in front of an enemy (unless in dark areas). Once you're spotted, an enemy will run towards you and if they touch you, an encounter will happen. If you can't see the enemy charge at you, then it's most likely lag on your part.

:(

everytime i try to launch the game an error message pops up and says that it couldn't launch bc the file nw_elf.dll was not found and to reinstall but the file is there? also ive reinstalled twice and it still is telling me the same error

Hi! It seems you're trying to run it from an archiving program (BreeZip). Please extract ALL the files before running Game.exe.

If that doesn't work, try the following

-Use the itch.io app to run the game (it's like Steam but for itch.io)

-Check if your antivirus is removing the .dll file in question

sorry, can't really attach an image to this. anyways, keep it up the good work and i hope you didn't leave this project. :) Thanks for making this game.

(I wrote this in the rate, i'm pretty stupid sorry)

Yep. This is caused by the scratchy texture tile as it's considered passable terrain. Nice find! Thought I got rid of all of those. Thanks! Will include the fix in the Chapter 2 update which is coming any day now.

Heavy stuttering on 2nd map at the beginning and mt Vulcan

Ah, dang, that's probably because of the minimap. It causes some problems on other PCs. Will be working on an overhaul soon. Thanks for the feedback!
